Rim Run

RUN: 4.5 mi
(53 min)

My attendance for the Team-D Saturday runs will be spotty until end of October, a combination of work related travel, and our twice a month exit from the valley to our cabin up in Strawberry. Today was the latter, enjoying an escape from the 110 degree valley temps.

The plan for today was for a really slow and relaxed run, given my bumpy running the week before and being at 6000 feet elevation. The morning was cool and sunny, and I headed out west on Fossil Creek Road, catching up in some listening of podcasts from IT Conversations.

My 30 minute turn around point had me half way up the steep hill after the pavement ends, just approaching the Llama ranch. Facing back east, I found a gentle breeze (was that pushing me), and I kept my steady slow pace doing fine… until approaching the Strawberry school house I was bothered by, well, to be blunt, nature calling (not the serenity of the pine forests). Rats, the outhouses there were padlocked shut, and given I was at the 53 minute mark, I walked the last 3/4 mile to my start.

Not great, not bad, just getting in the minutes/miles.

I’ll be missing the next Saturday run, but will show up for September 15.
