I had full intentions of running this morning, but my left leg did not. The stiffness in my shin is back, so I am giving it more rest, ice, advil. I am also getting my mountain bike back in riding condition as it looks like I might need to shift to some cross training activity.
Hey, Alan,
Sorry to hear about your shins. Hope it’s improving. The cross-training for a while is a good idea.
Remember R-I-C-E, Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. That’s kind of a universal solution, but it has worked really well for me for shin splints.
Another thing you can do for your shins, especially since you spend a fair amount of time in the country, is run less on streets and more on dirt or rubberized track.
Oh, and another thing…(I keep thinking of things as I’m typing.) if your shoes are getting old, replace them now. Don’t wait any longer.
Now I remember you said you just got some new shoes. Are you wearing your old ones for some of your runs?
Talk to Dave about this problem if you go to track tomorrow.
See ya! Good luck!
Jerry
Thanks Jerry! If these perhaps I need more elevation. Or rest!
I appreciate your experience.
