It’s Wednesday night! Woo-hoo! We cheer for the grueling workouts dished out by Coach Dave over at the Scottsdale Community College track.
Tonight was fast/slow interval miles… that is 4 laps around the track, alternating between 100k at a slow pace (1/4 lap) and 200k at a fast speed (1/2 lap)…. and we did 3 sets of these for a total of 3 miles (plus 2 laps of team chase).
My first mile was decent for me, and was pleased it was su 10 minutes (9:40). But I could feel my knee stifferning up, and could not finish the last lap of the second set. I was determined, though to do the last one, trudging in at 10:20. I’m a bit worried about straining the knee before the 10k race on Sunday, so may have to take it easy, apply some ice, and do some stretches.
Oh, and note to self- do not try and rush some food between stopping off at home between work and track. Maybe I can just do some juice, hold off on the insulin, and eat after the run. That bowl of cereal was not exactly staying put. Doh.
Did you know... "In 1924, a 14 year old boy Leonard Thompson was the first human with diabetes to receive insulin" (from DoctorNDTV)

Bill Zepeda says you’re crazy! LOL. He’s the marathon guru over here at South.
Me, I think this is pretty amazing. If I had never run more than 3 miles, I would not be wanting to run a half-marathon, but good luck to you. I just finished my first triathlon a few weeks ago, so I understand the drive. There’s something about turning 40 and not being slim and trim like we were when we were 20 that is a strong motivating factor.

Thanks for the wishes, Alisa… now I can see you’ve upped the ante! That is wonderful that you did a triathalon, congratulations!
And any tips on training are much appreciated, especially nursing this sore #*$&% knee!
