Today was my first training run with Team Diabetes– they were already about a month into it, but the group warmly welcomed me. There are runners of all sizes, ages, shapes, etc, some doing it as a walk, others doing the half marathn, and tyhe hard core full marathoners.
We met in Phoenix near Dreamy Draw Park alngside SR 51. They brought a guest expert in who did a nice overview on stretching… I’ve been doing adequate amounts with my runs so far, but I learned some better ways to stretch, and the imnportance of doing some upper body stretches too.
The run was down 1/2 mile to a dead end and back, and then into the multi-use path 1.5 miles to a rest room at the main park area; and then turn back to repeat it all for a total of 5 miles (yet another record!). The route was nice with some gentle ups and downs to make for interest.
I felt awesome on runinng it, having met some nice encouraging team mates. I’m liking running, how about that?
Later that evening, it must have caught up with me as while at a small dinner party I managed to fall asleep in my chair about 9:00 PM!
