THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY IS HEREBY NOTIFIED that I will no longer support their manner of business. Yep, they should just watch their profits dwindle away. |
| THERE ARE SOME WHO WILL SAY this is an uncalled-for reaction to the series of unfortunate accidents over the last few months. Sure, we'll hear those old, tired statements about how it's "safer than the highways" and how I suffer "more chance of being hit by lightning" than risk an airplane crash. While I would just as soon not end up as fish food in the Atlantic or peat moss in the Florida swamps, this has less to do with personal safety than human rights. | |
| YES, I AM FED UP WITH being treated like nothing more than a piece of tossed baggage, shuttled here and there in no coherent pattern, crammed into seat space that shrinks on a monthly scale, taxiing for hours, loitering in the takeoff lane behind 8 other lame birds, and all in all being treated with no regard for human needs. Notice I did not even mention "food" for the captives. | |
| AND EVEN WORSE IS THAT the price one is guaged for such "service" has absolutely no relation to the cost of providing said service. Your cross-country fare is more or less tied to the phases of the moon, the amount of rainfall on the Ivory Coast during odd numbered months of years divisble by 3, or the quarterly opening trading value of pork bellies on the Japanese stock market. | |
|
IT SEEMS INCREDIBLE that without batting an eye, giving it a second thought, or even consulting a higher power, we routinely allow ourselves to be sardined into a 10 ton container that has no ability to to provide safe locomotion without its mechanical aids.
Are we that BUSY? Is what we all do so urgent and important that we need to rush around in this constant flux of wasted energy? That we would not only risk our lives but willingly be treated like a packing crate. |

BUT NO MORE FOR ME because I am boycotting all forms of airline activity. They can call me the most infrequent flier on ther planet. I would rather have some say in my fate and timing of arrival, even if it means facing the terrors of the highways, where here in the wild west someone will shoot you just for flipping them the bird. I'd actually rather be riding my bicycle. I would suggest selling all stock interest in the major carriers before the market impact of my personal boycott is felt. They have been warned. |
